The WDFW announced that several marine areas of Puget Sound will reopen for recreational crab fishing on Oct. 1.  The waters reopening to sport crabbing include marine areas 4 (Neah Bay, east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line), 5 (Sekiu), 6 (eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca), 7 (San Juan Islands), 8-1 (Deception Pass, Hope Island, and Skagit Bay), 8-2 (Port Susan and Port Gardiner), and 9 (Admiralty Inlet), except for waters south of a line from Olele Point to Foulweather Bluff. Razor clam diggers may be able to return to Long Beach for a three-day opening beginning Sept. 27, pending favorable marine toxin results later this month. Effective July 15, 2019 the majority of Marine Area 6 (excluding Discovery Bay Shrimp District) will be open to recreational shrimp fishing 7 days per week with a daily limit being increased to 120 shrimp per person. This includes all species of shrimp including spot shrimp.  In addition, WDFW has added two more days for shrimp fishing in Marine Area 12 (Hood Canal).
