Effective July 15, 2019 the majority of Marine Area 6 (excluding Discovery Bay Shrimp District) will be open to recreational shrimp fishing 7 days per week with a daily limit being increased to 120 shrimp per person. This includes all species of shrimp including spot shrimp.
In addition, WDFW has added two more days for shrimp fishing in Marine Area 12 (Hood Canal). The effective dates are July 23, 2019 and July 24, 2019 from 9am to 1pm each day. This includes all species of shrimp including spot shrimp.
Keep in mind, any area open for spot shrimp you can use the 1" mesh shrimp pot. If it's closed for spot shrimp but open for coonstripe and pink shrimp you'll need the 1/2" mesh shrimp pot.
Areas open for spot shrimp:
- Marine Area 4 (east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line)
- Marine Area 5
- Marine Area 6 (outside the Discovery Bay Shrimp District)
- Marine Area 7 West
- Marine Area 12 (July 23-24)
Several other marine areas are open for coonstripe and pink shrimp fishing. Please check the WDFW's website for additional information.
